trippy

there was not much to be done
the smashed up face of blood did run
and gurgle sounded in his lung
as we tapped our foot and watched on

'drag him out' someone said
there's petrol in the air but
none dare touch the drowning man
we all did stand and stare

and wait the help of firemen rung
when we found the car 'round the tree
what do teenage boys know
of first aid in emergency

he was too far gone for us to help
beyond to witness his poor soul
leave his eyes devoid of life
through the sunroof to the sky

but we stood and waited 'til
the firemen arrived
we smoked a joint to calm our nerves
on that sunny summer day
